About Me

We are a group of Girl Guides who plan to travel to Kenya in 2013. We are looking forward to truly seeing the world by opening ourselves up to a great opportunity to work alongside local communities, developing friendships and supporting community development! This will be a once in a lifetime adventure for all of us!

Oh....deliveries!!

Delivery day was fun.  I must say any day with Joyce is amusing!  I'm really only blogging about our adventures cause she said I shouldn't!!!  She only thinks that cause she got my phone stuck in her flippy cup holder in the car.  Many thanks to Caleb who took a couple of screws out and got my phone back.  Really, it was not a big deal, just super funny.  There sits my phone, ringing and beeping, but I couldn't answer it.  I thought for sure it was someone famous and I was missing my chance!  I especially liked all the blank texts that were sent out on my behalf as we squeezed our fingers in beside it, trying to get it out!!  LOL  Maybe it was all the baking....or was it the lack of sleep that made it so funny.

Anyways, after getting lost a couple of times and having to phone Jasmine and my Dad for directions all the sweets made it to their final destinations safely!  The only thing missing was the couple of ginger sparklers we snuck out of the extras box.  Breakfast of champions!

Baked Out!

I think it is pretty safe to say, our group is baked out!  The first arrived at 8am this morning and stayed for the next 15 hours.  Happy to report that all our dainties are mixed, baked, boxed and ready to be delivered.

Someone brought up the Cake Boss today.  I for one think he would be proud (or at least he should be).  No, we weren't making cake, but treats extraordinarre we certainly had covered.  I am thinking we should have our own TLC special.  Daintie Boss... or maybe Daintie Master?

This is a small portion of the lemon tarts.  Stay tuned for more pictures!

Let's get started

We are getting ready to bake all day tomorrow.  Although, some of us already believe that we bleed mini marshmallows and look like ginger sparklers!  LOL

Thanks to everyone for supporting our fundraiser.  We have 674 dozen treats to cook up.  I hope your tastebuds are ready!!

And so it begins.....

And so we begin our fundraising.....

What's first on the list you ask?  Christmas Dainties.  Dozens and dozens of dainties!
In less than a week we are well over the 150 dozen mark.  Yep, ONE HUNDRED FIFTY dozen dainties to be made, so far!  Good job we have the use of a big kitchen for a day.

Trying this out

Well, this is my first attempt at blogging.  After this post I guess I can be considered a blogger?  Not bad considering I know nothing about this (yet).  I said the same about texting - I'll never learn how.  Once I learned that there was more to life than T9 I was set!!

Anyways, the purpose of the blog --- to keep you up to date on our progress with our goal to go to Africa in 2013 to build a school in Kenya.  It's a project I've become quite passionate about in a very short amount of time.  What an incredible experience awaits us.  However, it's gonna take some hard work and lots of fundraising  first.  I think we are all up to the challenge!
